An IGET disposable is a small battery-powered aerosol device. Understanding the basic engineering is useful, but hardware specifications should not be turned into health claims. A battery size, mesh coil or puff rating can describe how a device is built; none of those numbers proves that inhaling its aerosol is safe.
1. Power source
The device uses an integrated lithium battery to supply electrical energy to the heating element. Battery capacity differs between IGET models, and some newer series include a manufacturer-designed charging port while older closed devices do not. Charging advice must therefore be matched to the exact model.
2. Draw sensor and control electronics
Many closed devices activate when airflow or pressure changes during a draw. Control electronics switch power to the heating element and may also manage indicator lights or screens. These controls help the hardware operate; they are not medical safety systems.
3. Heating element and aerosol
The coil heats the material held by the wick. Mesh designs use a broader heating surface than a simple round wire. Heating produces an aerosol that is inhaled. It is inaccurate to describe that aerosol as “just water vapour.” Composition and exposure depend on the substance, device and operating conditions.
4. Puff ratings are model references
Figures such as 3500, 5000 or 10000 are manufacturer/model ratings based on a defined draw pattern. Real use varies with draw duration and frequency. A puff rating does not establish a precise number of days and does not measure health risk.
5. Engineering does not answer the health question by itself
The TGA’s consumer guidance says therapeutic vapes are unapproved therapeutic goods and have not been assessed by the TGA for quality, safety, efficacy or performance in the way ARTG-listed products are. Evidence about long-term health effects is still developing.
6. Australian regulatory context
Current TGA supply guidance restricts lawful vaping supply to pharmacy settings for therapeutic purposes, subject to the applicable conditions. A consumer product page or a hardware specification cannot establish therapeutic status.
Bottom line
The useful science-and-technology view of an IGET device is straightforward: a battery powers electronics and a heating element to create an aerosol. That explains operation, not safety. Health and legal questions require separate evidence and current regulatory guidance.
